  The Sartiglia (Sartilla or Sartilia) is a loop race of medieval origin which runs the last Sunday and Tuesday of Carnival in Oristano. It is certainly the most spectacular and choreographic Carnival of Sardinia.   The mattanza lies in catching tuna; shall be by means of large networks. These, true development of ropes and vests, called traps and, according to their location, are divided into front and rear, the stretch of sea where the traps are thrown must have a depth of 35 meters. SANT'EFISIO CULTURAL FESTIVAL
On 1 May is a religious and cultural event of great importance in Sardinia: the feast of Sant'Efisio, an annual procession that takes place to break the vow made by Cagliaritani during the plague epidemic of 1656. For the occasion, in the capital flock to the island many traditional groups that participate in the costume parade before the chariot bearing the effigy of the saint.

  St Lucia Carnival is held June and July rather than at the traditional time of Mardi Gras in February or March. The festivities follow a similar format to other carnivals up and down the island chain however, and they lead in with calypso competitions in the calypso ‘tents’, steel pan competitions and the Carnival Queen competition. While these are happening, the members of the carnival bands (which form the street parade) are busy preparing their costumes.

  The Arc, or to give it its correct title, the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), has now become an annual yachting event in the St. Lucia calendar. Each November, St Lucia comes alive, with the focus on making ARC participants welcome and wanting to stay — especially for St Lucia Yacht Club’s (SLYC) Christmas Sailing Festival starting in December.
